For the hands-on outreach activity, volunteers help guide a structured engineering challenge: a straw bridge design activity.

 

Students work in small teams using straws and tape to build a bridge that spans a set distance and supports increasing weight, while volunteers discuss concepts such as structural design, load transfer, efficiency, and teamwork during construction and testing.
